Duties

Assign work to be accomplished by subordinates based on priorities matching the difficulty and requirements of the assignments. Issue oral and/or written instructions to provide advice and assistance on new or unusual procedures or situations. Review work for adequacy of completed work and fire ground decisions and timeliness of accomplished work. Plan work schedules and sequence of operations to meet scheduled and priority assignments. Review project design specification manual to ensure they meet the safety codes. Manage programs of all phases of fire protection and prevention techniques and practices and hazardous material training. Review work for compliance with regulations, policies and recognized standards for prevention and fighting of fires. Develop and Implement fire prevention programs for seasonal campaigns, fire prevention week, fire marshal program and special lectures and orientations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs and requires pre-employment and random drug screening.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass pre-appointment and subsequent periodic medical examinations IAW DoD 6055.5M to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete an annual Job Performance Test.
  • This position requires the incumbent to participate in a cardiovascular physical fitness program.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • This position requires a valid state and government's driver's license.
  • This position may require the incumbent to travel by land and/or air.
  • Incumbent is required to work 60 hours per week (120 hours bi-weekly) which may include at least one 24-hour shift and may include working nights, weekends, and holidays
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This is a mission essential position.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) planning work to be accomplished, interpreting policy and procedures, and establishing priorities; 2) knowledge of firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques; 3) advising on fire code requirements; 3) reviewing construction plans for new, modifications and self-help projects for compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
