Duties
In this position, the incumbent will serve as a senior geospatial engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a team environment,
Provide technical expertise, guidance, and oversight for the most complex Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) geospatial projects
As a geospatial technical expert within USACE, incumbent is consulted on geospatial issues within the District, Division, and other agencies.
Work typically includes supporting, directing and leading interdisciplinary Project Delivery Teams(PDT) by developing and applying novel geospatial modeling and analysis techniques.
As a geospatial SME, independently performs assignments and works with the Project Delivery Teams (PDTs) and geospatial Community of Practice (CoP) to develop guidance, perform geospatial analysis to provide technical oversight.
Perform advanced geospatial analysis using emerging data science technologies to support data-driven project delivery and agency decision making.
Design and implement novel mapping solutions using the latest web GIS solutions.
Design and direct the analysis and development of geospatial workflows to ensure streamlined and efficient acquisition, processing, analysis, and application of enterprise geospatial data.

Basic Requirement for Geographer 0150 Series:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Basic Requirement for Cartographer 1370 Series:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in cartography, or a degree with a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites).
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
GS-13
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting all of the following: 1) Experience with geographic information systems and/or spatial data; 2) exercise leadership and/or project management skills; and 3) communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders.
