THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Logistics Management Specialist, Position Description Number D0389000 and is part of the Georgia Army National Guard in Marietta, Georgia. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current members of the Army National Guard.

Duties

As a Logistics Management Specialist, GS-0346-11, you will: Plans and coordinates all matters pertaining to supply, organizational maintenance, troop movements, logistic readiness, services, and miscellaneous logistic support of the command and its subordinate elements. Maintains close and continuous coordination with such support activities responsible for logistic support operations as the USPFO, the CSMS, and DLOGS. Monitors logistic readiness by reviewing qualitative and quantitative reports on the status of equipment in comparison with requirements and availability. Prepares logistic estimates, reports, and plans and recommends actions to enhance the command materiel readiness posture. Reviews MTOE/TDA's and recommends additions and deletions. Makes recommendations regarding the distribution of critical end items affecting materiel readiness and oversees and coordinates actions resulting from acceptance of those recommendations. Advises and assists other staff personnel in logistic matters pertaining to their areas of responsibility and assesses current and proposed operations and plans for logistic impact. Oversees, coordinates, and administers the logistic functions of the subordinate elements by developing and issuing policy guidance on logistic matters including receipt, storage, issue, turn-in, in-storage maintenance of supplies, property accountability, supply economy, supply discipline, troop movements and billeting for training exercises, etc. Initiates and coordinates training in supply subjects for appropriate personnel in the command. Analyzes the facilities requirements of the units and plans, coordinates, and/or recommends improvement, modification, and construction of facilities. Administers the Food Service Program of the Division and subordinate units. Coordinates with the Division Operations and Training Specialist for procurement of needed supplies, transportation, billeting, etc., in L.L;;".: 3f training activities. Visits units to conduct inspections and provide guidance and assistance in logistical matters. Supervises the Division Supply Discipline program. 'Develops guidelines for conducting convoy movements of troops. Works in close harmony with DLOGS personnel and DISCOM commander on such property matters as inventory adjustments, DLOGS Data Base, MTOE additions or deletion, etc. Monitors equipment status, determines maintenance requirements, and recommends maintenance priorities. Coordinates maintenance support by external organizations. Evaluates the adequacy of the internal maintenance organization of the command, the skills of the personnel engaged in unit maintenance activities, and facilities and makes appropriate recommendations to improve or uphold the maintenance posture of the command. Develops budget estimates for logistic areas such as troop movement, rations, supply, maintenance, etc. Serves as member of Division Program Budgeting Activity Committee (PBAC). Prepares justification for budget items. Recommends priority for expenditure of funds for procurement of needed items for support of operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: SGT-1SG, WO1-CW4, 2LT-CPT Compatible Military Assignments: NCOs MOSQ 91 or 92 series. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training identifying activities involving logistical support operations. Experience integrating the actions of a variety of specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive logistics plan. Experience monitoring such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan. Experience identifying delays or problems and developing corrective actions. Experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform specific tasks, and complying with regulations, laws, or practices.

Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
