You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER in the COMMANDER, NAVY REGION SOUTHWEST, PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE of COMNAVREGSW SDIEGO.
Duties
You will serve as the Director of Public Affairs and technical authority in functional areas of media relations, command information, community relations, public information, crisis communication and communication planning.
You will use strategic communication practices, focusing on the Commander’s vision, CNRSW mission, time frames and objectives.
You will develop and maintain rapport and professional relationships with representatives of local, regional, national and international news media organizations.
You will provide policy guidance on Public Affairs operations to customers, personnel, and high level officials
You will coordinate the execution of a collaborative region-wide community relations or outreach program.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of principles, practices, and theories in the fields of business management, administration, engineering, and financial management; 2 ) Utilizing business and communication expertise, and/or the ability to acquire and administer human, financial, material and information resources in a manner which instills internal, external, and public trust and accomplishes Navy Region Southwest's mission; 3) Recognizing, presenting, and discussing potentially controversial issues in a tactful and diplomatic manner, and conducting him/herself with professionalism and dignity; 4) Applying knowledge of local political and cultural attitudes, and the ability to work with various groups with different goals and cultural background; and 5) Providing advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
