Duties

You will serve as the Director of Public Affairs and technical authority in functional areas of media relations, command information, community relations, public information, crisis communication and communication planning. You will uses strategic communication practices, focusing on the Commander’s vision, CNRSW mission, time frames and objectives. You will develop and maintain rapport and professional relationships with representatives of local, regional, national and international news media organizations. You will assesses problems and identifies existing or potential problem areas and recommends an integrated strategy covering all public communication and national outreach aspects.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, coordinating, or executing resource management functions across a Public Affairs Program; 2) Evaluating or developing business management operation policies for Public Affairs Program; 3) Performing fiscal management to provide resource planning and requirements forecasts for Public Affairs Program; 4) Advising leadership on resolving policy issues and Public Affairs Program matters.
