About the Position: This position is located within the National Simulation Center (NSC), Facilities Division, Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Duties
As a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator), you will perform the following duties:
Performs a variety of general outdoor maintenance and upkeep designed to maintain and enhance the natural environment and overall appearance around the buildings and facilities.
Performs a variety of general indoor maintenance and upkeep.
Receives, unloads, and processes incoming shipments, using various modes of transportation, common hand tools and materials handling equipment up to 10,000 pounds capacity.
Performs a broad range of standard storage and maintenance assignments.
Determines specific materials to be re-warehoused and consolidated.
Matches, checks, and compares data on selection instruments against materials to be issued or shipped.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical screening and physical examination and an annual re-evaluation.
- This position requires the exertion of very heavy physical effort in frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds.
- This position has a business travel requirement of approximately 10%.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. I can operate a forklift up to 10,000 pounds to move, stack, unstack, load and unload materials and equipment from shipping containers. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Works inside and outside. When outside, is frequently exposed to all kinds of weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust and dirt. Is exposed to the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes.
