Duties
You will be responsible for the implementation of the quality system for environmental data collection and management.
You will evaluate and interpret environmental guidelines, criteria, regulations, and laws to ensure compliance.
You will investigate hazardous waste disposal sites, assess environmental impact and initiate cleanup.
You will serve as technical coordinator and project manager for command critical, high-risk projects.
Requirements

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- The incumbent must obtain, maintain and use a Government travel card.
- If selected as an Engineer, registration as Professional Engineer is required. If selected as a Geologist, registration as a Professional Geologist is required. An American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification as a quality manager is desired.
- The incumbent is required to complete the Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE Form 450, on an annual basis to report financial interest as well as other interests outside the government.
- The position is eligible for telework. This position may be eligible for telework on a situational or regular and recurring basis to be determined by activity where the position is filled.
- Frequent travel away from the normal duty station is required.
- The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license to travel…(to dispersed sites within the local commuting areas, to conduct studies at various locations, to pick up, transport and deliver mail, etc.).
- Regular and recurring exposure to a wide variety of hazardous and toxic substances. Must wear protective clothing and special protective equipment (gas masks, respirators, coveralls, aprons, gloves, goggles and face shields) when necessary.
- The incumbent must be eligible to occupy a Noncritical Sensitive Position. Access to U.S. National Security Classified Information is required at the Secret level and the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Recruitment/Relocation incentive may be offered provided the selectee is eligible and funding is available.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Develop/prepare a Quality Management Plan; 2) Leads and conducts quality system audits; 3) Prepare statements of work and estimates for environmental and munitions work; 4) Communicate complex environmental quality assessments with stakeholders; 5) Serve as technical authority for investigating and cleaning up hazardous waste sites. In addition to the above requirement, Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist registration required as applicable.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
In addition to the specialized experience, incumbent must also possess the Basic Education Requirements for the intended series.
