This position is in the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Nevada Field Office (NFO) Office of the Manager (OMGR). The incumbent will serve as an External Affairs Program Manager and will manage public, congressional, and intergovernmental affairs, media communication, digital media, social media, and information activities related to NNSA/NFO Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) activities.
Duties
As a Program Manager you will:
Manage public, congressional, and intergovernmental affairs, media communication, digital media, social media, and information activities related to NNSA/NFO Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) activities.
Prepare the NNSA/NFO senior leadership and staff for public meetings and media interviews by developing talking points, background information, and other pertinent materials.
Develop the internal NNSA/NFO newsletter and achieving NNSA/NFO public awareness and public communications goals of open communication with state, local, and community groups.
Establish and develop effective relationships with NNSA headquarters professionals, contractor representatives, and media representatives.
Qualifications
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e. EN-03 or GS-13.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as applying principles, practices, methods, and techniques of public communications, media relations, congressional and intergovernmental relations and outreach activities, such as the following:
1) experience managing public communications and media relations;
2) experience overseeing congressional and intergovernmental affairs;
3) knowledge of and participation in protocol operations;
4) participation in developing community outreach activities/programs;
5) preparing senior leadership and staff for public meetings and media interviews by developing talking points, background information etc.
