This position of the Contact Representative will be located in the Business Office for the Supai Health Clinic, in Supai, Arizona. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Health System Specialist ( Patient Business Manager).
Duties
Provides primary receptionist services with excellent customer service; receiving and directing incoming calls on a multiple line telephone system.
Interview all patients eligible for Medicare and Medicaid benefits to ensure they understand the entitlement in Indian Health Service facilities.
Provides information counseling and assistance services to beneficiaries concerning their health benefits as part of the Indian Health Service criteria.
Initiates medical authorizations for services for internal and external health services for qualified Native Americans.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-3:
Your resume must demonstrate at least six (6) months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position OR;
Successfully completed one (1) year of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university OR;
Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify an applicant for the GS-3 level.
GS-4:
Your resume must demonstrate one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position OR;
Successfully completed two (2) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university OR;
Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualification s for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify an applicant for the GS-4 level.
GS-5:
Your resume must demonstrate one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: Work experience that demonstrates knowledge of eligibility requirements for health care benefit programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Insurance, First Steps, and other similar resources to respond to inquiries from individuals as they relate to health services the medical facility can provide, solve problems or educate individuals about medical facility health programs and procedures OR;
Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level. NOTE: One (1) year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR;
Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-05 grade level.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
