This position is located with the BIA, Office of Trust Services, Division of Wildland Fire Management, located at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), in Boise, Idaho. Information about the surrounding area can be found at https://www.boisechamber.org/ The duty location is in Boise, ID or may be negotiable at the time of selection, but it MUST be within the local commuting area of any Bureau of Indian Affairs Office.

Duties

Provide specialized guidance, leadership, coordination, and program direction for the administrative, logistical, and support functions for the Division of Wildland Fire Management (DWFM). Develop program efficiencies. Coordinate information between national, regional, and field units as well as interagency partners. Establish standard operating procedures. Integrate management objectives into overall strategic planning. Facilitate communication with interagency partners.

Qualifications

You must have prior wildland firefighting experience and training on the fireline: Wildland firefighting experience is defined as on-the-line wildland firefighting experience gained through containment, control, suppression, or use of wildland fire. Wildland fire is defined as any non-structure fire that occurs in the wildland. The two types of wildland fire are wildfire and prescribed fire. Specialized Experience: In order to be rated as minimally qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the minimum qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. Failure to provide required information on resume could result in ineligibility for consideration. For GS-14: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Manage administrative processes, including correspondence, congressional reports, and data calls. Collaborate between agencies/offices to streamline workflows across systems such as Concur, property management, and human resources. Engage with Regional Office wildland programs and Regional Leadership pertaining to Central Office coordination and agreements through interagency collaboratition. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604.
