The position serves as the Medical Support Assistant (OA) for the Dental Department located at the Clinton Indian Health Center in Clinton, OK. The purpose of this position is to provide dental reception and administrative support to the dental clinic. Administrative support will be in the areas of patient and personnel management, official communications, dental coding, fiscal management, and program documentation. This position reports to the Supervisory Dentist of the Clinton Service Unit.
Duties
Provide administrative and clerical support to the Dental department.
Organize work assignments to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks while maintaining confidentiality.
Use manual, electronic, and automated systems to perform a variety of assigned tasks in support of the department.
Provide exceptional customer service to ensure all contacts receive proper resolution to their problems in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-04: Applicant(s) must meet one of the following minimum requirements to meet the GS-04 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible for clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-04 level; OR
Two (2) years of education above the high school level. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university; OR
Combination of education and experience that when fully combined meet fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
GS-05: Applicant(s) must meet one of the following minimum requirements to meet the GS-05 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Perform patient registration in a clinic or hospital setting such as interviewing patients, updating patient information, and verifying insurance information; Provide a full range of administrative support, reception, and clerical duties; Schedule appointments and manage calendars efficiently; Handle patient inquiries and provide information regarding services offered; OR
Four (4) years of education above the high school level; OR
Combination of education and experience that when fully combined meet fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
Typing Proficiency: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
