About the Position: Serves as data entry tech for the Processing Section of the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory. Operates a variety of office automation equipment; including, but not limited to, computers, copiers, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanners to translate handwritten, typewritten, or printed legal documents into machine-editable text. Duties
You will identify, collect, document, preserve, and transport evidence to ensure integrity for forensic analysis and judicial proceedings.
You will enter, upload, maintain, review, and/or update health care records (e.g., patient data, patient identifiers).
You will receive batch folder, containing chain of custody documents, which serves as the initial source material for data entry purposes.
You will receive bulk mail deliveries of urine specimens from U.S. Postal Service, other commercial couriers, and in person.
You will Inventory each shipping container to determine if the specimens, within, are accompanied by the appropriate forms and documentation.
You will recognize, identify, and annotate discrepancy codes as they apply to box, form, or urine specimen bottle, requiring significant attention to detail and independent judgment.
Requirements
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
- This position may require travel away from duty station (TDY). Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must complete a certification program provided by the agency within 6 months of appointment.

GS-06 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must highlight at least year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level of pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing a variety of office automation equipment. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing computer generated reports for completeness, proper format and sequence, and accuracy of data; 2) Reviewing any discrepancies and administrative errors and making necessary adjustments for resolution; 3) Identifying problems from collected data and applying work methods and solutions based on standardized processes and procedures and precedent cases.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
