About the Position: This position is located at the Defense Health Agency Pacific Rim- Directorate of Medicine. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assists with patient flow and gives direct patient care within scope of responsibility. Assists providers with invasive or non-invasive examinations or procedures. Monitors patients undergoing procedures and identifies patients in acute distress or with potential for acuity change. Assists in the dissemination of information to patients regarding discharge instructions, health promotion, disease prevention and wellness. Participates in monthly clinic/unit meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients,identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action whenproblems exist. Maintains medical records, collects and files lab, radiology and consultation reports as necessary.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
• This position requires the completion of an Occupational Health pre-employment Physical Examination.
• This position requires lifting up to 15lbs.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• This position is designated Mission Essential. Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Supervisor and/or Local Command Policy.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Candidates with Medical Assistant/Health Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse Certification is highly preferred GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) reviewing patients' medical histories and; (2) conducting basic diagnostic procedures as ordered i.e., EKGs, blood glucose; urine dipsticks, etc and; (3) operating an automated system to input or retrieve medical information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Care, Nursing, Medical Laboratory or Medical Biology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
