About the Position: This position is in the NB Health Clinic Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, San Diego, CA. San Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the site of the San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, art studios museums and gardens. A deep harbor is the Home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open to the public.This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assist with patient flow and gives direct patient care within scope of responsibility. Maintain confidentiality of patient-related issues and intervenes to protect same. Assist providers with invasive or non-invasive examinations or procedures. Monitor patients undergoing procedures and identifies patients in acute distress or with potential for acuity change. Assist in patient education and explanation of therapies used and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge and understanding of physical, emotional, social, spiritual and cultural factors influencing patient care and well-being.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 44# lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing patients' medical histories; conducting basic diagnostic procedures as ordered i.e., EKGs, blood glucose; urine dipsticks, etc.; taking vital signs; operating an automated system to input and retrieve medical information's. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
