About the Position: This position is within the Directorate Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security, Training Division, duty location is on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Employee performs warehousing duties in combination with forklift operations.
Duties
Responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments.
Organizing stock in storage area to include consolidating like items to make room for new items as they arrive.
Follow Federal and State rules concerning duties such as storing, handling, labeling and disposing of hazardous materials.
Utilize an automated system and scanners to develop coding data.
Operate a forklift, following necessary safety guidance to prevent injury to self or others.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Employee is required to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operators License.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to perform common warehousing activities under minimal supervision, such as collecting, receiving, storing, selecting, issuing, transporting, and shipping materials, supplies and/or equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 70 lb. The heavier items are moved with handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
???????Working Conditions: Work is done inside or in outside-areas that may be hot damp cold, drafty or poorly lighted. Is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises abrasions falls and injury from falling stock or mechanize conveyor systems. When working with hazardous materials incumbent may be subject to exposure from explosive toxins or chemical fuses. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as steel toe shoes, rubber gloves and masks.
Education
