This position is located with the Hillside Youth Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
This a Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours and eligible for benefits.
Selectee will be operating a shuttle with less than 16 passengers, so no CDL is required. Please submit a copy of a current, state-issued driver's license along with proof of education to be found eligible.
Duties
Develops and follows efficient, consistent and safe bus routes for routine trips (e.g., to and from school) to minimize transportation time.
Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips.
Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.
Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance facilities.
Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any concerns to the supervisor before transporting children/youth.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older at time of appointment or placement into the position.
- Proof of education is required at the time of application.
- Good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease. Immunizations must be current including annual influenza vaccination.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
- This position requires mandatory drug testing.
- The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis is required.
- This position requires mandated reporting of all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
- The appropriate driver’s license must be valid and current.

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment is subject to completion of a favorable suitability determination.
- Any individual who was required to register with selective service and who has not registered or knowingly and willingly did not register before the requirement terminated or become inapplicable to the individual will not be appointed.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
Qualifications
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.
Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15-passenger vehicle.

Education
Proof of education must be submitted with the application along with a copy of a current valid driver's license.
Acceptable documents for proof of education are a high school diploma, a high school transcript (showing the graduation date), a GED certificate, a college transcript listing courses that were taken, or proof of a college degree.
