About the Position: This position is with the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Maintenance Division, located in JBLM, WA.
Duties
Operates a large variety of vehicles ranging from single body sedans, vans and light to heavy trucks through to tractors with trailers up to 45 feet in length.
Operates passenger buses with up to 44 passenger capacity.
Drives various routes providing flight line support (home station and transient aircrews) and passenger transport as required.
Monitors passenger behavior to ensure aisle is not blocked and to prevent any other situations that pose a danger to vehicle operation or passenger safety.
Responsible to observe for proper loading to ensure even weight distribution, tie down and safeguarding of cargo.
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 100 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a CDL within 12 months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision to include:(1) Operating a variety of motor vehicles such as: sedans, pick-up trucks, and vans to transport authorized personnel, material, and/or equipment; (2) Determining which routes to take due to the size and weight of the vehicle and/or the laws restricting the use of some roads by some vehicles; and (3) Skill in driving techniques such as: turning, backing in congested/narrow locations, operating in congested traffic, negotiating steep grades and applying dual brakes in order to prevent traffic accidents. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls, put on chains, attach tractors to trailers and tie down cargo. Occasionally lifts 50 to 100 pounds in performance of duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Operates vehicles in all types of traffic, road and weather conditions and is exposed to the possibility of serious injuries from accidents.
