You will serve as a RESERVE ORDERS ASSISTANT of NRC NEW ORLEANS.
Duties
You will serve as Navy Reserve Order Writing System (NROWS) order processing subject-matter expert and Defense Travel System (DTS) and non-DTS coordinator.
You will process training orders, modifications and cancellations for reservists assigned to the Command.
You will approve or disapprove funding, follow up on outstanding obligations, analyze training budget and monitor funding use.
You will provide guidance and assistance in creating and correcting order requirements and applications, and travel authorizations and vouchers.
You will assist in administration of the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program through activation/deactivation accounts, processing and submitting applications.
Requirements
- You must successfully complete the Navy Reserve Order Writing System/Reserve Defense Travel System within six months of employment.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- The incumbent must be capable of computer work including various job specific programs and Microsoft Office.
- Work requires the employee to successfully complete the Navy Reserve Order Writing System/Reserve Defense Travel System course within six months of employment.
- Some travel may be required.
- Drill weekend work is required.
Qualifications
GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Applicant's resume must demonstrate the following specialized experience:
Experience in applying a comprehensive understanding of administrative rules, regulations, and procedures associated with SELRES AT/ADT/IDTT records, reporting, processing, and tracking.
Experience in managing AT/ADT/IDTT orders, travel authorizations, and vouchers in compliance with published instructions, regulations, laws, and established policies such as the JTR for Uniformed Service Members.
Experience with automated systems supporting SELRES AT/ADT/IDTT orders and travel authorizations/vouchers, including NROWS, DTS, NP2, TOPS, and MS Office, to enter, search, edit, and extract data, as well as monitor program status and funding utilization.
Experience in applying comprehensive knowledge of the GTCC program policies and instructions, with the ability to utilize associated systems for activating/deactivating cards and processing applications.
