This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at Yuma Proving Ground, AZ.
Duties
Serves as a Lead Security Guard assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
Makes daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.
Independently performs installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirements.
Questions suspicious persons and warns or detains violators of laws, regulations, policies, rules or posted warnings.
Secures installation from all entry on own initiative or upon notification of alarm or emergency.
Screens all employees, visitors, consultants, foreign nationals, government agents, elective officials, media representatives, VIPs and contractor personnel daily
Ensures the adequacy of working conditions such as lighting, security, and safety.
Requirements
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility at the Secret level using a Tier 3 background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals
- Drug testing designated position. Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a random/recurring basis, in accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85
- Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training
- Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment
- Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT)
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
- Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform
- Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors
- Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%
- Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968
- Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: participating as a team member or leading a security guard force for an organization ; controlling access of vehicles, visitors and pedestrians into a facility such as a military installation and utilizing automated systems to query and verify suitability for visitor entry into a facility.
