As a Grants Specialist, you will:
Plan and manage grant administration which is characterized by such features as 1) grant reviews, 2) developing strategies to determine and eliminate improper subsidy payments, 3) evaluating the effectiveness of information technology systems, 4) implementing new policy or guidance, and 5) defining and instituting new methods and strategies to improve grant administration in the office.
Assist the Division Director in ensuring that the workload is prioritized and scheduled; that activities are scheduled or reassigned as appropriate; that actions are taken to enhance program results; that operations are adjusted when necessitated by changing demand and/or reduction in resources; and that accurate and timely reporting of operations and activities is accomplished.
Participate in intra- and cross-functional teams involving grant program issues and assists in providing training and technical assistance.
Promote and maintain cooperative working relationships with other Federal agencies and state and local agencies as they relate to grant programs.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Administering grants related to affordable housing programs; AND
- Assisting in implementing new policy or guidance for grant administration; AND
- Working with management and field staff to resolve grant issues.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
