The Radiology Program Support Assistant (OA) provides clerical support for the Radiology Department and Patient Care Services. This person functions under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor and in accordance with established Radiology and Hospital Policies and Procedures. This position is located at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Telework is limited and may not be suitable for all candidates.

Duties

MAJOR DUTIES BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Performs a comprehensive range of clerical, technical, and administrative duties in support of the Radiology Department. The complexity of the work requires the employee to act as a liaison between the Radiology Department, facility providers and outside medical facilities. CLERICAL/PROGRAM SERVICES AND SUPPORT: The collection, compilation and tracking of data/media information in support of the Radiology Department. Media may include, but is not limited to, outside imaging CDs. Compilation includes inquiry requests, data entry and purging of media. Incumbent will need to possess considerable skill in defining the data requested; i.e. what exams are needed to be imported into the patient's electronic health record, when to purge media devices, ect. Burns Madison Radiology images onto CDs or film as required; Maintains film and CD burning inquires per hospital policy. Incumbent is proficient in electronic methods of data recording and processing including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point. Employee will be required to build data monitoring systems where none currently exists. This may include incorporating existing separate data sources into a comprehensive database. Accepts directions and demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships, flexibility and cooperation while performing duties. Supports hospital objectives and policies, and demonstrates a willingness to be an active participant in unit problem-solving and quality assurance activities. Demonstrates constructive problem-solving skills. Assists in training of new personnel. Complies with all safety/fire prevention rules/regulations, using protective equipment when required and provided. Promptly reports accidents and notifies supervisor of unsafe/unhealthy conditions in the work area. Acts as a liaison or handles communication with persons and/or groups within and outside of the Radiology Department. Accepts direction and demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships, flexibility, and cooperation while performing duties. Demonstrates ability to serve as a responsible member of the health care team, communicates effectively with members of other services and strives to understand own behavior and its effect on others. Adheres to a standard of hospital ethics that ensures discretion in confidential matters. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 15 days of the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS -5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.GS-5 LEVEL GRADE REQUIREMENTSGS-5 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Do you have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of medical center regulations and policies which affect the use of clinical applications, including, but not limited to, computer security, SOPs, and other medical center resources. Working knowledge of CPRS and VISTA applications including the use of applicable networks, templates, consult packages, and VA specific data systems. Knowledge of instructional presentations, evaluation strategies, and training techniques. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as papers, reports, and moving some computer equipment.
