Duties
You will assist with providing electronics technician work related to systems security.
You will be responsible for the analysis, testing, operations, and development of new technologies integration and maintenance of systems security to ensure a safe and secure work environment throughout the command.
You will participate in the installation, fabrication, testing, evaluation/research and development, sustainment, and troubleshooting new or modified security systems or analyzing the compatibility of interlocking components and systems.
You will apply a wide range of electronic engineering principles and practices in the installation of security systems.
You will work closely with senior technicians and participates in applying fundamental electronics technician methods, principles, and practices of electrical and electronic test equipment.
You will utilize independent planning for installation and testing of security systems along with exercising judgment when necessary to interpret policies and guidelines when issue or unusual situations arise.
You will perform various electronics technician duties involving installation maintenance, repair, and proving work status for all applicable areas of CCTV and other video monitoring equipment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- The electronic/electrical requires working in awkward positions. This includes, but not limited to, lifting up to 60 pounds, kneeling, stooping, bending, and climbing ladders.
- Incumbent must have the ability to accurately distinguish colors; hear and accurately comprehend telephone conversations, radio traffic, and annunciated alarms; and diagnose trouble by sight, feel, sound, smell, vibration, or other perception.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
Qualifications
To Qualify for GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying the principles and theory of electronics with regard to assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repairs of security system related systems (e.g.: Automated Access Control Systems (AACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and infrastructures).
To Qualify for GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying the principles and theory of electronics with regard to performing the installation, maintenance, and repairs of security system related systems (e.g.: Automated Access Control Systems (AACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and infrastructures).

Education
Education may be substituted for the GS-09 based on the below:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree directly related to the work of the position;
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree directly related to the work of the position;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate school education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
There is no education substitution for the GS-10 grade level.
