You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Combat Systems Engineering and Planning Division, Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will provide problem resolution and troubleshooting for Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) Combat Systems. You will design, implement perform and evaluate local test plans and procedures to determine material readiness; identify, resolve and report discrepancies; and provide over-the-shoulder maintenance training to ships force personnel. You will coordinate planning and technical services to identify existing and/or develop technical work documents which define detailed requirements necessary to accomplish authorized work for assigned projects. You will monitor work in progress and completed work to make sure work documents are of acceptable quality and conform to current standards. You will coordinate assigned engineering and planning work within the project team and with related work in other sections or branches.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing technical work documents and providing engineering and planning services for the upgrade and maintenance of shipboard and submarine combat systems electronics equipment.
