Duties

Serves as the primary leadership position providing direction, coaching and support to facilitate problem solving and accomplishment of Monument and associated District goals and programs. The incumbent is responsible for overall program direction, execution, and review of all activities within the Monument in coordination with the District Manager. Responsible for making decisions that sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. Performs personnel management functions such as making selection of employees; participating in position and pay management programs; establishing performance standards and evaluating performance; Identifying developmental and training needs of employees; Providing and making provisions for training. Responsible for maintaining a sound organization that effectively and efficiently uses personnel, equipment, materials and financial records.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: (1) Management skills, such as analyzing program efficiencies, contract administration, budget analysis, and/or, natural resource management. Dealing with organizational methods, funds, people, equipment, and/or other tools or resources; and/or (2) Advising leadership on complex administrative and technical programs, processes, and procedures, including providing solutions to complex administrative problems; and/or, (3) Overseeing/supervising a resources staff such as: Archaeologist, geologist, wildlife biologist and/or park ranger. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
