The primary purpose of this position is: Serves as an environmental program manager for the Air National Guard, an Air Force Major Command, responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all functions and activities for an environmental program area for the Environmental Division.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees assigned activities in the Environmental or Asset Management Division.
Exercises program and project management responsibilities
Represents the Environmental or Asset Management Division with a variety of USAF/DoD organizations, groups, teams, or committees.
Communicates and coordinates environmental issues with higher headquarters, regulatory agencies, other installation units, community officials, etc.
Participates in the development and execution of the environmental budget and preparation of planning, programming, and budgeting system (PPBS) documentation in support of environmental Quality Branch.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes a wide range of environmental duties; and the skill to modify standard practices and adapt equipment or techniques to solve a variety of problems; adapt precedents or make significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects to provide for the specialized requirements of projects; and apply standard practices of related disciplines as they relate to environmental functions.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of professional principles, practices, techniques, and procedures of the environmental laws, and regulations (NEPA, air, water, hazardous waste, pollution prevention, and Environmental Safety and Health Compliance Assessment Management Program {ESOHCAMP}, etc.) to effectively perform program management functions associated with project development. execution, training, and advisory services in compliance; pollution prevention; environmental planning including knowledge of the planning, programming, and budgeting system (PPBS).
Knowledgeof health,safety,security,and environmental regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan,organize, and direct the functions of the environmental division to a wide assortment of customers.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of organi7.ational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
