You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic in the Production Division, Public Works Department Norfolk of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will interpret building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering, drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals.
You will plan and layout the work and skill to use trade formulas to calculate common properties.
You will plan, layout, and complete the installation, modification, and repair.
You will perform maintenance and repair work on buildings, exterior and interior structures and related utilities, facilities and components.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
- You may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
- You may be required to serve on-call duty on a rotational basis. When on-call, you must carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
- You may be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
