This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Energy Technology Program Specialist, you will serve as an expert responsible for developing effective federal and state approaches to deploy clean energy technologies for all sectors of the economy.
Duties
As an Energy Technology Program Specialist, you will:
Serve as a project manager for the Office responsible for a wide variety of highly complex energy efficiency and renewable energy projects/programs.
Interpret, analyze, and implement the impact of new and proposed legislation, Executive Orders and other regulations on energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
Develop systems and procedures to enable the energy efficiency and renewable energy program to meet statutory requirements and Departmental goals and objectives effectively and efficiently; advise supervisor and field activities on unusual, difficult, or controversial energy efficiency and renewable energy matters.
Review, monitor, and report expenditures to management; design and implements innovative funding mechanisms, prizes, and events to advance solar energy deployment programs.
Assist in the evaluation of program impacts in the solar energy sectors and make recommendations and develop solutions or improvements in approaches in the deployment of the activities.
Oversee the coordination and interaction with other internal offices and other Federal agencies as well as with public and private interest groups in implementing energy technology projects or programs.
Requirements

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting (ALL) of the following
Experience managing community solar and residential low-income solar projects.
Experience advising and making recommendations on the effects policy and regulatory frameworks for the purposes of enabling low-income solar and community solar access.
Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating community solar and low-income solar programs.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
