This position is located in the Hampton VAMC, Health Administration Service (HAS), within the Program, Data Analytics & Training Section. The purpose of this position is to develop, facilitate, maintain, and present effective facility wide trainings pertaining to several health administration software programs involving scheduling, benefits, admissions, and other related systems.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Develop and implements, ongoing training programs related to a variety of health administration software systems involving scheduling, benefits, admissions, and other related systems.
Responsible for providing HAS related trainings for medical center front-line schedulers (MSA/AMSAs), Lead MSAs, Supervisory MSAs, and Ambulatory Care and Processing Section Chiefs, and other employees in support of clinical administrative functions across the medical center.
Develops and submits action plans for management and medical center leadership for review.
Assist management in program improvement projects within the Operations Program, Data Analytics and Training Team.
Serves as an integral part of the Hampton VAMC's 'New Employee Orientation' program and collaborates with members of Health Administration Service, Ambulatory Care and Processing, and GPM Access Teams as needed.
Specialize in VA computer packages which directly impacts clinical operations and efficiency across the medical center (i.e., VISTA Scheduling package, PCMM, Clinic set-up and the PRN Reminder System), Veteran Enrollment System (VES), and the soon to be implemented Electronica Health Records Management (EHRM) system - Cerner software application.
Conducts and evaluates personnel training needs assessments and surveys and applies analytical and evaluative, methods, and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the HAS staff in various job functions.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/26/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have master's or equivalent graduate degree (Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled) or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled) or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond one year of graduate education.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. However, there may be instances that require walking, extended standing, bending, carrying items no greater than 50lbs such as papers, books, boxes, or other office supplies.
