About the Position: Performs a variety of clerical, administrative, office automation and specialized functions in support of the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES). Exercises extensive technical knowledge of legal/police terminology, regulations, procedures and processes governing administrative functions.

Duties

Serves as a Police Record Clerk (Office Automation), performing a variety of clerical, administrative, office automation and specialized functions in support of the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES). Serves as the Post Debarment, and Revocation and Suspension of Installation Driving Privileges clerk for Fort Meade. Prepares DA Forms 4833 for all Crime Records Center (CRC) reportable crimes and repeat offenses. Provides assistance to walk-in visitors, and telephone callers.

Requirements

  • The incumbent must obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of being appointed in the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Performing clerical assignments involving multiple processes. 2. Identifying issues with office tasks and determining procedures to complete assignments and 3. Utilizing knowledge of legal requirements to ensure case records contain required documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Criminal Justice. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
