About the Position: This position is located at Robins Air Force Base in Houston County, Georgia.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
This is a DOD Demonstration Project position.
Duties
Direct activities of the Public Health Flight to include ensuring compliance, developing goals and objectives and liaising with other organizations.
Develop policies and procedures that support Public Health missions.
Conduct supervisory functions to include plan/review work assignments, set priorities/deadlines, develop performance plans, evaluate performance; approve leave, handle grievances, initiate minor disciplinary actions and identify training needs.
Evaluate policies and procedures to recommend improvement in quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work.
Oversee funding management to identify requirements and initiate requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to meet goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position requires Tuberculosis Testing and/or record of Tuberculosis Testing.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Public Health Specialist:
Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting public health activities and programs such as food safety, security and sanitation inspections, disease prevention, medical readiness or promoting health education and training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-I).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Health, Health Policy and Management, or Public Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
