About the Position: Serves as the Supervisory Dispatcher in the law enforcement and security division, directorate of Emergency Services, United States Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett. As the Installation subject matter expert concerning emergency dispatch services, responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of dispatchers.

Duties

Administer emergency services communications operations in the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Central 911 Communications Center. Provide emergency services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Coordinate ongoing radio frequency licensing with the Installation Network Enterprise Center (NEC). Responsible for caller interrogation to determine the problem and the nature of the call. Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate responses. Provide technical direction on the operations and interface of emergency services databases and systems. Develop standard operating procedures for efficient operation of the DES Central 911 Dispatch Center. Prepares various reports concerning security and police operations. Serve as the Supervisory Dispatcher in the Directorate of Emergency Services. Supervise the day-to-day operations of dispatchers. Manages all the dispatcher certification and training requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Requires a Secret (Tier 3) security clearance.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. In accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R (Condition of Employment) must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • Position is subject to shift work. The incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays). Incumbent may be required to work emergency overtime.
  • Required to complete and maintain current certification in 911 communications training in Fire, Law Enforcment, Emergency Medical Dispatch.
  • Required to obtain and maintain certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch System through an accredited source.
  • Required to attend and successfully complete Terminal Agency Coordinator and National Accredited Public Safety Dispatcher Training. Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • The position requires the selectee to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions.
  • Required to be trained in the National Incident Management System.
  • Must possess DOD Telecommunicator I (10612W_01 Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate) and DOD Telecommunicator II (10612W_02 Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate).
  • Must possess Telecommunicator basic, Telecommunicator and Advanced Telecommunicator.
  • Must possess a state Crime Information Center and National Crime Information Center (NCIC); and maintain current certification.
  • Required to obtain and maintain the state of California on the CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems) certification.
  • This is a Mission Essential position and is not subject to administrative dismissal in states of emergencies due to inclement weather conditions, or other emergency situations, as directed.
  • Required to successfully complete the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months of being assigned to the position. Failure to do so may result in an adverse action.
  • This position is designated as KEY position IAW AR 690-1.
  • Required to obtain and maintain certification in first-aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires a one year supervisory probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties unless previously completed.
