Duties

This supervisory mission support position allows you to use your knowledge and experience supervising a team that plans and carries out a wide variety of mission support, workforce management, administrative research, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations. This position starts at a salary of $117,776.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,113.00 (GS-13, Step 10). As a Supervisory Mission Support Specialist, you will provide senior level advice regarding complex administrative services and support. Typical work assignments will include: Supervising mission support specialist employees who carry out the function of the Sector workers' compensation office. Planning, directing, and coordinating work, setting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. Developing performance standards, rating employee performance, and identifying and scheduling training needs. Interpreting and applying guidelines related to workers' compensation/injury benefits to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures in accordance with the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA). Processing workers' compensation claims and conducting proactive case management. Developing new or modified administrative program work methods and procedures for delivering effective services to customers.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Interpreting and applying guidelines related to workers' compensation benefits; Developing and implementing administrative policies related to system access, records management, process audits and workers compensation; Analyzing data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, and estimates; Meeting complex planning needs and unanticipated requirements to provide reports including providing recommendations, conclusions/solutions, and alternatives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/15/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
