Duties
The Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management) plans and carries out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of Mission Readiness Operations. This position starts at a salary of $99,044.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $128,752.00 (GS-12, Step 10).

As a Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management), you are a key team member of Homeland Security professionals providing advisory and technical services to management. Typical work assignments include:
Providing advice involving workforce issues to senior leaders, supervisors, and nonsupervisory staff.
Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status reports, staff reports and correspondence.
Researching, gathering, and obtaining information related to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests while ensuring confidentiality of information, including PII/confidential documents.
Serving as a liaison with Labor and Employee Relations (LER), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEO), and the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) for cases that have workforce implications.
Performing general mission support-related duties, such as scheduling of travel and training, organizing the logistical elements of work (such as access to vehicles), analyzing non-overtime budget factors, managing the procurement of acquisitions (including pre-award and post-award contracts).
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Serving as a liaison with Labor and Employee Relations (LER), The Equal Opportunity Commission (EEO), and the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) for cases that may have workforce implications;
Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status reports, staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations;
Performing general mission support related duties, such as scheduling of travel, arranging meetings and/or conferences, and handling incoming office correspondence;
Assisting leadership in the development and implementation of policies related to sector workforce and position management, procedures, and other matters affecting USBP administrative programs;
Collecting and analyzing Freedom of information Act (FOIA) requests or other requests for confidential data.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 06/12/2024.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military

Working as a contractor, intern, consultant or volunteer supporting the U.S. government
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
