The Program Support Assistant position is located in the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) Division, Nashville, Tennessee, Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office. The VR&E Division is responsible for determining eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services, assessing Veterans interests, aptitudes, abilities and determining if an employment handicap exists. Services include: the identification of viable employment, independent living options, training and job placement.
Duties
Responsible for determining Chapter 31 Generated Eligibility Determinations(GED) for Veterans in the state of Tennessee and Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Receive applications for benefits, establishes claims and initiates/maintains Counseling Education
and Rehabilitation (CER) folders within the Division.
Processes requests for Employee Adjustment Allowance (EAA) payments.
Initiating written correspondence, scheduling, and confirming Veterans' appointments for orientation, facilitating group orientations and administering skills assessments when work is not contracted out.
Acts as a liaison between Veterans and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (VRC) by providing responses to routine requests for information related to eligibility, subsistence and dependent allowances, and receipt/non- receipt of monies due.

Specialized Experience:
GS-07: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the federal service, state or private sector. Specialized experience is work experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Specialized experience: may include performing the following duties in a work environment responsible for human services or general office administration: alpha-numeric filing, completing telephone outreach, responding to telephone and written inquiries; scheduling appointments; financial transaction to include account reconciliation and documentation of procurement process; accurate computer data entry, and appropriate customer and peer relationships/communication..
