You will serve as a Painter in the Fuels Department, Maintenance Division of NAVSUP FLC PEARL HARBOR.

Duties

You will Conduct pipeline inspections for corrosion, damaged coating systems, leaks, and anomalies. You will Install corrosion prevention flange bands and bolt caps to prevent mechanical connection corrosion. You will Operate sandblasting machines to strip existing coatings, remove rust and scale, and profile metal surfaces for new coatings. You will Apply paints using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP), conventional, and powder coating spray systems. You will Prepare metal or concrete surfaces by removing grease, old paint, rust, and scale. You will Clean and smooth surfaces with sandpaper, emery cloth, and wire brushes. Match colors and mix various coatings, including stains, epoxies, and enamels. This is a bargaining unit position.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including conducting pipeline inspections, installing corrosion prevention flange bands, operating sandblasting machines, applying paints, curing powder coding's, preparing metal or concrete surfaces, mixing degreasing and pickling solutions by immersion or washing, in accordance with prescribed regulations. I also have the ability to apply coatings to surfaces with various types of paint, enamels, and non-skid materials, etc., employing brushes, spray painting equipment, or paint rolling equipment, mix paints including base materials, thinners, and pigments to obtain appropriate consistency, color, and drying properties; I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
