You will serve as a PAINTER in the PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Duties
You will prepare and paint a variety of surfaces, such as interiors and exteriors of buildings, stationary and mobile equipment, and metal surfaces, where appearance as well as surface protection is important.
You will prepare exterior work on buildings along with the required washing, removal of paint or varnish by sanding, scraping, wire brushing, burning with a blow torch, or the use of paint and varnish remover.
You will prepare surfaces, and mix paints by adding colors, thinners, drying agents, and retardant to obtain predetermined color and consistency.
You will perform finishing techniques by using coating materials that are prepared in special, as well as common ways, and by applying coating techniques that ensure surfaces have a smooth textured and decorative appearance.
You will lay out parking and traffic markings and at times, airfields following blueprints and engineer drawings.
Requirements

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Use gloss, semi-gloss, and special paints, enamels, varnishes, stains, lacquers, and shellacs to ensure protection of surrounding areas. 2) Assure proper adjustment of ladders and scaffolding. 3) Assure proper maintenance of brushes and other equipment.
