This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Intelligence Analysis. As an Intelligence Research Specialist (Junior Intelligence Analyst), you will serve as a junior member of a team that conducts research and analysis under the guidance of more senior analysts.
Duties
Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-7. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an INTELLIGENCE RESEARCH SPECIALIST(JUNIOR INTELLIGENCE ANALYST), you will:
Identify new and pertinent data and conduct research and data analysis
Present research and analysis to more senior analysts
Write products that contribute to larger studies
Reconcile occasional conflicting data sources
Prepare organized presentations of studies
Integrate intelligence data with other financial and economic data to prepare organized presentations of studies or contribute to larger studies as assistants to more senior analysts.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-7: You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience for this position includes experience in ALL of the following:
-Researching and gathering data, validating information, and citing sources; AND
-Analyzing data and developing conclusions; AND
-Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education in a related field; or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); or grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society. (Attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit).
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
For the GS-05, you must have three years of general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service.
General experience includes:
- Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; AND
- Planning and organizing work; AND
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
OR
You may substitute education for general experience as follows: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
