This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction.
The primary purpose of this position is to develop strategies to protect the country from threats; acquire, detect and report attempts to import, transport, or use biological weapons, illicit chemical supplies, nuclear devices, and radiological and nuclear material intended for illicit use.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS-0132-15, your typical work assignments may include:
Evaluating overall effectiveness and adequacy of the intelligence organizations operations in the light of its mission.
Conducting program planning, direction, or evaluation responsibilities for the research or collection operations of a major geographical area.
Assessing unforeseen developments, new phenomena and difficulties encountered, and recommend changes in direction and approach.
Designing and conducting a wide variety of comprehensive studies and detailed analyses of complex functions and processes related to long-range planning

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Planning, organizing, and carrying out analytical studies involving the planning, development, and implementation of major agency programs of national scope and impact.
Initiating projects, collection requests, and requirements for information; planning and directing collection activities; and planning broad research and analysis programs.
Formulating and recommending plans to improve program policies, practices, methods, and organizational structure.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
