This position is located in the Defense Legal Services Agency, Office of Military Commissions, Office of the Chief Prosecutor, Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP). The Administrative Support Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director, VWAP, to include but not limited to serving as liaison for administrative, information technology, database management, transportation & logistics & Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) issues concerning the VWAP Office.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Provides general support to any and all witness, survivor and victim family member transportation and logistical matters. Monitors operations at Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) site locations, providing guidance and problem solving to CCTV site administrators. Reviews, analyzes, and initiates recommendations on correspondence, instructions and publications relating to the administration of the office. Furnishes necessary data or information as requested by researching appropriate subjects such as regulatory material and provides guidance to other clerical employees on records management and vital records administration.

  • The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP)
  • Work may occasionally travel away from the normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or mandatory overtime
  • Relocation incentive may be authorized in accordance with regulatory requirements

Assisting with managing the day-to-day administrative support functions such as logistics, travel and records management; 2. Preparing reports and/or spreadsheets for office personnel to analyze data; And 3. Using office automation tools and technology such as database management, Information Technology and Closed Circuit Television to assist with administrative programs. OR Education: Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualifications and education requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study
