About the Position: Incumbent functions as a Visual Information (VI) Specialist responsible for producing a variety of VI products and assists customers in planning and preparing presentation materials, and advises customers on various properties, characteristics and capabilities of multimedia formats.
Duties
Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the Multi-media Visual Information Branch.
Design, plan, lay out, originate visual information displays, drawings, illustrations, graphics, photographs, computer graphic and digital electronic images, charts, maps, signs, badges, paper prints, posters and transparencies.
Select colors, techniques, textures, and other factors necessary to add realism or emphasis to the information or products.
Maintain equipment manuals to ensure instructions are readily available regarding equipment operations, processes and procedures.
Perform operator and unit level maintenance on visual information production equipment
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Some weekend work, and work beyond the normal operation hours, may also be required.
- Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 months.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting customers with preparing presentation materials, 2) Operating a variety of equipment such as printers, scanners, cameras, cutters, computer graphics or copiers to produce presentation products; AND 3) Providing multimedia support utilizing digital electronic equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: commercial art, fine arts, art history, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
