You will serve as a VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST (MEDICAL) in the BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY (BUMED) of NAVMEDSUP DET BETHESDA MD. Salary: GS-09 $68,405-$88,926 Salary: GS-11 $82,764-$107,590

Duties

You will plan and design a wide variety of medical artwork, graphic design, and medical illustrations. You will produce visual information products using computer graphics systems and programs. You will utilize a wide variety of arts and graphic arts media and materials. You will select and recommend layouts and designs of publications and other printed material, exhibits and visual presentations. You will ensure proper development and preparation of visual information products.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, all personnel and others who may come in contact with patients, must receive and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza.

Qualifications

To qualify for GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with graphic design principles, elements and processes for both electronic distribution and print production. Experience utilizing oral and written communication skills. Experience developing medical graphic arts (medical and technical illustrations, presentations, and a variety of electronic and printed material). Experience utilizing state-of-the-art desk-top publishing systems in order to design and develop computer-generated graphics to create complex visual information projects. Experience designing, creating, and assembling materials for presentations, publications and exhibits. To qualify for GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing knowledge of Graphic Design Principles. Experience utilizing computer imaging hardware and software. Experience utilizing excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience developing Medical Graphic Arts (Medical and Technical Illustrations, presentations, and a variety of electronic and printed material). In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Education substitution for GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled.

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled.

or

LL.M., if related

Education substitution for GS-09:

master's or equivalent graduate degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled.
