About the Position: This position is located with U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Cavazos, TX.
Duties
Test, troubleshoot, repair, modify, overhaul, upgrade software, and install a variety of electronics equipment and systems with dense and complex circuitry.
Conduct electrical and operational tests of completed systems and assess the impact that specific repairs may have on the total system.
Connect major components to specialized test sets and test equipment.
Provide assistance to lower grade employees on test and repair problems.
Repair and maintain specialized test sets and fixtures.
Provides technical support and assistance, often using diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
Setup electronic systems and devices, including assembling and connecting components like cables and wiring.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Pre-employment physical is required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronics Mechanic~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the common duties of an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC. I can: Identifying, isolating, repairing, and/ or fabricating complex electronics components and equipment; Operate automatic test equipment to locate, isolate, and repair defective components; Run performance analyses, testing system functionality, and calibrating electronic systems to ensure they operate correctly; and Skill and ability in using multi-meters, AF/RF/video signal generators (PL- 1536/GRM), oscilloscopes, and field strength meters. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
In-shop work is normally performed in well-lite and air-conditioned areas or in enclosed well-lighted, heated, and ventilated bays. Outside work is frequently performed in various structures, which may be hot, cold, damp, dusty, windy, cramped, or otherwise uncomfortable. Workers may be subject to electrical shock, cuts, bruises, burns, and other injuries resulting from maintaining equipment, using tools, or vehicle operations. Workers are frequently required to climb and work from ladders up to 25 feet and mechanical lifts and bucket trucks up to 70 feet above ground/floor level. Working in confined spaces may be required on some tasks assignments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Workers frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items up to 40 pounds without assistance, and over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers or material handling equipment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, sitting, and working in cramped or awkward positions is required.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
