The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Flight Simulator Training Coordinator/JTACQC Instructor and Joint Terminal Attack Controller Advanced Instructor Course (JTACAIC) simulator training activities, including scheduling, operations, maintenance, and instruction.

Duties

Manage squadron simulation systems, ensuring plans, policies, and procedures for all simulation systems are adhered to in providing a realistic combat training environment to prepare JTACs for military operations. Develop Education and Training Materials. Analyzes mission goals, objectives and requirements, and develops unit training plans and procedures for simulator operations and continually reports any simulator modernization and concurrency requirements. Provides instruction on all aspects of JTAC Simulator operations including operational Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP), equipment usage and maintenance. Schedules all training events requiring simulator use.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain A+ certification requirement DoD 8570.Ðember will have 6 months upon hire to acquire A+ certification.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working with Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) Simulation Systems to include Live, Virtual and Constructive, simulation modeling, scenario programming, and trouble shooting and stand alone and distributed mission operations Information Assurance and physical security requirements. OR EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: - Knowledge of Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) Simulation Systems to include Live, Virtual and Constructive, simulation modeling, scenario programming, and trouble shooting. Knowledge of standalone and distributed mission operations Information Assurance and physical security requirements. - Knowledge of USAF and Joint training network architectures and standards. Knowledge of simulation configuration management policies and guidelines. - Knowledge of Close Air Support tactics, techniques and procedures, JTAC communication and targeting equipment: JTAC qualification. - Knowledge of instructional techniques and courseware development. - Knowledge of program policies and budgetary issues relating to the management of unit simulators. - Knowledge of organizational and technical points of contacts to facilitate effective simulator operations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.
