The primary purpose of this position is established as a part of the Civilian Strategic Leader Program (CSLP) to specifically broaden the skills and /or enhance the enterprise perspective of an identified high-potential senior leader; it is not a continuing position and assignment duration is limited to 36 months with one-year management option to extend.
Duties
DUTY 1
As deputy to the commander, plans, organizes, and oversees the day-to-day support activities that the MSG provides to the installation.
DUTY 2
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
DUTY 3
Represents the MSG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
DUTY 4
Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments to include long-term planning, functional/technical advice and guidance, and continuity of management.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate secret security clearance
- If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. PCS cost will be paid IAW DAFMAN 36-142 Policy under this agreement.

- Demonstrated at least 12 months of base level experience in a mission support capacity
- At least 12 months of supervisory experience (non-waiverable for installation level assignments)
- Civilian Strategic Leader Program assignments are managed by AFPC/DPCZ and are centrally funded

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems.
EDUCATION: Must possess a bachelors degree from an accredited institution
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position (or equivalent) or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of operational and managerial functions and mission of subordinate Mission Support Group activities and of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for assessment and improvement of agency, MAJCOM, and installation level plans and programs.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Skill and ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Skill and ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, and adjust work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
