You will serve as an HR SPECIALIST (CLASSIFICATION) in the CLASSIFICATION DEPARTMENT (20) of FLEET HRO NORFOLK.
Upon selection, the duty location may be negotiated.
Duties
You will provide a full range of position classification and position management advisory services to approximately 8,000 Navy civilian.
You will prepare and/or review position and job descriptions.
You will conduct desk audits, write reports of findings.
You will provide classification training.
You will locate, interpret, analyze and apply Position Classification standards and Guides.
You will determine adequacy of position descriptions (PD’s).

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience serving as a Classifier in direct support to a large population encompassing a variety of UICs and missions within a large BSO.
Experience providing position management and classification services to a wide range of GS, FWS, and CES positions in a variety of grades and series to include high-grade positions.
Experience conducting desk audits and having conversations with senior level managers to gain information on positions, verify details, and resolve complex classification problems.
Experience providing on-going mentoring to junior level employees to help develop necessary classification skill sets.
Experience developing and conducting presentations or formal training in classification, position management, PD writing, and desk audits.
