THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), Position Description Number NGT5907500 and is part of the TN ARMY Army National Guard. This vacancy is not eligible for membership to a labor organization.

Duties

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0800-11, you will initiate and implement policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs and to protect SCI resources. Establish policies and procedures for accomplishment of SCI protection and security. Work directly for the intelligence unit commander/Senior Intelligence Officer (510), reporting on the administration of the Special Security Office and SCI-associated security programs. Administer the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed. Provide oversight of unit and 550 security self-inspections and presents detailed and comprehensive reports with corrective action taken to the unit intelligence commander/51O. Represent the intelligence unit to a variety of installation and functional areas, including national-level organizations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance
  • May be required to work uncommon tours of duty on short notice
  • May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • This position may be designated mission essential. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the unit is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • This position is d may be subject to duty for, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless approved in advance by the TAG.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months specialized experience, education, or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience and knowledge of a wide range of security specialties to include physical, personnel and operation security. Experience identifying and resolving conflicting and complex policy and program objectives and procedures within the security functional are. Experience and knowledge of law enforcement and security policy development on short- and long-term security planning. Experience undertaking long-range studies, projects, or forecasts with the purpose of enhancing security systems efficiency or influencing future security planning, policies and programs?
