About the Position: Serve as a leader of a team of Information Technology Specialists in the delivery of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Inofmration Management (C4IM) services to the Depot and off-site customers.
Duties
Assure that the work of the team is carried out by performing a range of coordinating and supportive duties and responsibilities.
Make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks.
Check on work in progress and review completed work to see that the supervisor’s instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
Maintain current technical and leadership knowledge to answer questions from team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc.
Estimate and report to the team on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects and tasks.
Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or an appropriate management official.
Oversee the management of various types of Local Area Network (LAN), Campus Area Network (CAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity to include supporting the automated devices linked to the network.
Monitor and support the overall Information Assurance (IA) architecture and ensures compliance of network security protocol.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Obtain and maintain the appropriate information assurance and computing environment certifications in accordance with DoD manual 8570.1M within six months of being assigned.
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- Business travel up to 10% of the time.
- Obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance for the duration of employment in this position.
- This is a "Mission Essential" position. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Required to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This is a drug testing position. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing thereafter to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement t with an on-duty accident.

Basic Requirement for Lead Information Technology Specialist (Policy Planning/Network):
Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Working on projects related to the design of small data networks and architectures to meet standard and unique requirements; 2) Clarifying and disseminating information technology requirements to a team or organization; AND 3) interpreting and advising information technology policies, standards, and/or guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11].
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving routine and non-routine problems, questions, or complaints; developing and maintaining strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers; conducting evaluation of support to determine quality of services and customer satisfaction, and recommending procedural changes based on customer need or changes in policy and/or regulation.
(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information.
(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.
