About the Position: The position is located at the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Fleet Management Expansion (FMX), Fort Moore, GA. Fort Moore is located 100 miles south of Atlanta, GA, and adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.

Duties

Supervise the service and repair work on heavy duty mobile equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines such as diesel, multi-fuel, turbine, supercharged, and turbo supercharged engines. Exercise full supervisory responsibility planning daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals. Explain repair work requirements, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures to accomplish maintenance operations. Utilize multiple Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) Logistics Information Systems (LIS) or equivalent system in order to gather information to provide documentation of maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State Drivers License and Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification Card. May be required to obtain a CDL.
  • This is an Army Drug Testing position. The incumbent shall be subject to periodic and random urinalysis drug testing as required by AR 600-85.
  • Pre-appointment medical examination/physical is required.
  • Employee is required to observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.

Works on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts assemblies, and equipment. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists and cranes. Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. Working Conditions - Work is performed inside and outside. When inside, individual is exposed to drafts, hot and cold shops, changing temperatures and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, individual is exposed to inclement weather working in heat, mud or snow and in wet or icy areas. Whether inside or outside, exposure to irritations and discomfort from fumes, dust, dirt, oil and grease is common. Frequently work is performed using parts and on systems which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions, burns, chemical irritations, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Individual must follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods
