You will serve as an ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER LEADER in the PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will assign tasks to employees to conduct switching evolutions on an electrical distribution system. You will inform management of electric power controlling work in progress, operating problems, personnel issues, or equipment failures that would affect mission capabilities. You will operate computer terminal to interpret power load flows throughout an electrical distribution system. You will use safety equipment (e.g., harnesses, hard hats, high voltage gloves, hot sticks, hearing protection, lifting gear) when working on electrical power systems. You will interpret blueprints, technical manuals, work instructions, or other job-related materials to verify safe operation of distribution systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Executing electrical switching orders to maintain uninterrupted power flow; 2) Maintaining safety tagout log, nuclear hold tag log, and caution tag log; 3) Ensuring supplies (i.e. plans, blueprints, materials, tools) are available; and 4) Operating phone or radio system to maintain communication with crews, supervisors, offices, vessels, suppliers, police, fire department, and various other groups.
