About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation at Dyess AFB, Texas.
This position is considered Flex. It is guaranteed 0-40 hours, you may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be available to work ALL shifts assigned, including Saturdays.
Having availability to work Mid-day shift (0930-1330) is highly favorable
Duties
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
Warms swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions or hazards and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
May operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specific standards.
Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have an approved and current national recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Satisfactory completion of installation record checks, state and national criminal background checks are required.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Background Investigation

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
